When life throws you a curveball, you adapt and destroy! The crazy thing is, I stared this collaboration over 25 years ago, so I figured It would be fun to give you the complete behind the scenes story... Roy Tuscany was a skier friend, a local hero skiing Sugarbush VT. We'd connect at east coast events back when newschool skiing was just coming up in the early 2000's. We were each doing our own thing to push skiing. I created and ran Line skis, and he was on his way to becoming pro, sponsored by Dynastar. IN 2006 EVERYTHING CHANGED... He was skiing Mammoth Mountain where he overshot a 100 foot jump. He went 130 feet resulting in a huge impact and fracturing his T-12 vertebrae. Roy suffered a life-altering injury that left him paralyzed from the waist down. His handicap lead to an awareness of the challenges faced by injured athletes. This drove him to create the High Fives Foundation. It's incredibly impressive what he's personally overcome. My mind is blown by the fact he also simultaneously created and operates an organization that does more than you can ever imagine to help others. Roy sees an obstacle, and he destroys it. So for the base graphic we went full 80s skateboarding vibes. The same rebellious spirit that fueled "Skate and Destroy," is twisted into High Fives' powerful "ADAPT AND DESTROY" message blazing across the base. The top graphic brings tropical good vibes with hidden characters scattered throughout for some chairlift discoveries. Fank created this chill, positive energy design representing the hope and community High Fives brings to athletes facing their biggest challenges. I'm making only 200 pairs of "The Masterblaster" ski as well as a super limited quantity of shirts that match this ski graphic in collaboration with our friends at Party Shirt International. THIS ISN'T JUST A SKI... it's supporting others like Roy who work hard every day to prove their obstacles can be destroyed! A portion of ski proceeds goes directly to High Fives Foundation to help their incredible mission. Follow @hi5sfoundation
