I’ve been a longtime fan of Jamaican music and culture, my wife and I even got married in Jamaica, so when the opportunity came to create a graphic for a ski like this, I was eager to go big and bold with pure good-times vibes! Bob Marley and other Jamaican artists popularized the red, yellow, and green colors of the Rastafarian flag through their music, embedding them deeply into reggae culture. These colors were originally inspired by the Ethiopian flag featuring the Lion of Judah, which later became a primary symbol of the Rastafarian movement. This art centers around these dynamic colors, symbolizing the resilience, hope, and unity rooted in Jamaican heritage. Fank designed the art by applying translucent color washes over the natural wood grain to create a soulful, organic vibe. He used a vintage aesthetic reminiscent of classic roots reggae album covers, adding a bold “GOOD TIMES” statement on the base. With these bases, people will know you’re having reeeeal good times surfing, slashing, and popping out of the deep pow! This unique ski graphic is both an homage to reggae music and a celebration of its powerful, enduring spirit. We produced only 100 pairs of this Limited Edition graphic on “The Best Friend” ski, each hand-signed and numbered.
